Nestled on the western edge of the Temecula Valley, the winery, originally founded by the Hart family in 1973, was acquired by Halter Ranch in May 2022. This Southern California Wine Country welcomes over three million visitors annually and is conveniently located approximately 60 minutes from San Diego, Orange County, and Palm Springs, and 90 minutes from Los Angeles.

Seeking

An experienced and professional Barback for our Temecula location. Under minimal supervision, the Barback works as part of a team to support all tasting room operations in a manner that is aligned with the goals of our estate winery.

Duties & Responsibilities

These duties include but are not limited to: 

  • Pre-setting glassware and sales material for tastings at the direction of the Lead and Tasting Room Manager.

  • Clearing tables after guests depart. Glasses, plates, and service ware are to be transported to the dish area, washed, polished, and put away.

  • Promptly cleaning tabletops, chairs and tasting spaces, as well as cleaning or vacuuming floors and surrounding areas as required.

  • Inspecting restrooms and cleaning/restocking as needed.

  • Responding appropriately to guest requests and communicating guest requests to Wine Advisor/Manager immediately.

  • Preparing and restocking collateral materials daily.

  • Assisting with pre/post shift setup/cleanup – including basic maintenance such as watering plants, sweeping walkways, touching up windows, etc.

  • Assisting with the packing of wine for guests and carrying wine to guests’ vehicles.

  • Packing and shipping orders as needed.

  • Restocking cheese/charcuterie and food items daily/weekly.

  • Stocking and organizing inventory areas, as well as pulling requested inventory for tastings.

  • General organization.

  • Contributing to a positive, collaborative team atmosphere.

  • Performing other duties as assigned by manager.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to stand for up to 8 hours daily or extended periods of time

  • Must be able to lift, stack, move at least 60 pounds (case of wine) on a regular basis

  • Strong basic math skills.

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.

  • Must be available to work all Saturdays and Sundays

  • Maintain excellent working relationships with customers, vendors, and co-workers.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment

  • Acute attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy

  • Previous experience in a restaurant or a restaurant-like setting preferred but not required

  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm. A team player.

  • Proactive and responsive work ethic that sets the team up for success.

  • Good judgment, with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.

  • Professional appearance and demeanor.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds.
