Kevin Sass, Winemaker

It’s every winemakers dream to have 281-acres of sustainably farmed vineyard at your fingertips. The natural resources here at Halter Ranch are the best I have ever worked with.

A Southern California native, Winemaker Kevin Sass grew up in Agoura Hills graduating from California State University (Fresno) with a double major in Enology Wine Production and Agricultural Business.

Kevin has been making wine from the grapes at Halter Ranch Vineyard for 17 harvests. After 11 years at Justin Winery, which purchased grapes from the Halter Ranch Estate, he became Winemaker at Halter Ranch in 2011. A new state-of-the-art gravity flow winery and an estate wine-growing program has allowed Sass to showcase the 16 grape varieties planted on the 281-acre west side vineyard. Kevin lives in Templeton with his wife and sons.

Zeb Little, Vineyard Manager

Surrounding myself with great hardworking people and embracing the industry’s latest technologies has allowed our team to continually improve the quality of grapes every year.

Vineyard Manager Zeb Little is a born and raised Central Coast native. He grew up working on his family’s mixed vegetable farm in Santa Maria and graduated in 2013 with a degree in Crop Science from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.

After working his first harvest in 2013, Zeb knew the wine industry was where he wanted to focus his energy. He joined the Halter Ranch Team in 2016 and draws on years of farming experience to make Halter Ranch’s 281 acres of wine grapes, olives, and walnuts a successful growing operation.

Paul Arangorin, Executive Chef

Being fortunate enough to work at Halter Ranch, I cannot help but draw inspiration from the nature that surrounds the property. There is so much produce grown within this region alone and we want to reflect those local ingredients in the culinary program.

After graduating from the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco in 2005, Chef Paul Arangorin gained experience at The Manchester Grand Hyatt and The Grand Del Mar in San Diego before working for The Mandarin Oriental in Asia. His travels extended throughout Europe.

After moving back to Paso Robles, Chef worked at Artisan Restaurant and The Restaurant at JUSTIN. He joined Halter Ranch Vineyard in 2019. Paul brings 15 years of experience and travel to the culinary program and private events.
