Winemaker’s Notes:

Ancestor Estate Reserve is the best blended wine our estate offers each year, without regard to varietal or blending parameters. Typically a Bordeaux-style red, the 2007 Ancestor is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Petit Verdot and Syrah. It offers a seductive, complex aromas of ripe black fruits, cedar, and sweet vanilla. The 2007 Ancestor is powerful, elegant and balanced. Drink now with beef, lamb and game, this wine will develop beautifully in bottle for another 10-15 years.

Halter Ranch is home to an ancient Coast Live Oak. Surrounded by our vineyard, this tree has been designated one of the largest specimens of its kind. A witness to the ages, it stands as a symbol of heritage and preservation. We chose the name Ancestor for our Estate Reserve in honor of this ancient tree.
