SIP Certification

Sustainability in Practice
Healthy Vineyards, Amazing Wines

Certifying our Commitment

The Sustainability in Practice (SIP) Certification Program evolved from nearly two decades of effort to understand and implement sustainable farming practices. When you find the SIP seal on our bottle you can be assured we are preserving and protecting the natural environment, treating our employees and community with care and have sound business practices with a long term view that protects both the present and the future.

Meaningful Standards

We must meet the highest level of sustainable performance to be eligible to use the SIP seal. This “gold standard” program was developed with the input of experts from the Environmental Protection Agency, National Resources Defense Council, university advisors, community and environmental organizations. These standards adapt and improve as practices evolve.

Third Party Audit

Independent inspectors audit and confirm adherence to these strict standards.

External Certification

An independent panel grants certification based on blind auditor reports.

Caring for People, Farms, and the Environment

Social Responsibility

We offer competitive wages, benefits, training and education because each worker is a valuable resource.

Water Conservation

We regularly monitor soils, plants and weather, irrigating vines only when needed.

Clean Water

We keep water clean by growing grasses to reduce erosion and filter storm water runoff.

Safe Pest Management

We introduce beneficial insects, attract raptors, and plant enriching cover crops to keep the vineyard healthy.

Energy Efficiency

We minimize tractor use to reduce our carbon footprint and use alternative fuels such as bio-diesel.

Habitat

We create wildlife corridors to give animals access to traditional watering holes and food which helps maintain biodiversity.
