Green Building
Savings by Design
Our new, state-of-the-art winery is enrolled in PG&E's Savings by Design program. This program works with us on adopting the latest energy-efficient technologies such as solar power and awards credits and rebates for participation. Although more costly to initiate than conventional energy systems, we believe our commitment to sustainable energy systems benefits not only us but furthers our committment to the environment.
LEED Certification
We'll be pursuing LEED Certification, an internationally-recognized voluntary certification program developed by the U.S. Green Building Council. This program focuses on the following: use of sustainable and renewable building materials, energy and water efficiencies, indoor air quality and CO2 emissions, minimizing environmental impacts of land use, and using innovative technologies as an integrated approach to building design and construction.
Core Features
- Gravity-flow processing facility eliminates pump usage and provides gentler processing of winegrapes to enhance wine quality and save energy
- Solar PV panels generate majority of electricity needs
- Wastewater recycling program safely reuses winery greywater for irrigating vineyards and landscaping
- Low water-use sanitation of barrels and other winemaking equipment
- Rainwater recovery program traps rainfall and transports it to vineyard reservoir for irrigating
- High-efficiency insualtion reduces energy needs
- Wood-framed winery is built of rough-sawed timber and locally-quarried Adelaida stone
