A Taste of 2012 Tempranillo

Tempranillo - Halter Ranch Vineyard

This past Saturday we began a soft release of our first 2012 red.  Also a member of our new Silver Label Reserve line up, this fresh red is ripe for knocking off socks.

Those of you who had the privilege of experiencing our previous effort with this particular variety will be pleased to read that the first release of the new reserve series is 2012 Tempranillo.  Aged 15 months in French Oak barrels, 50% of which were new, the ’12 is showing the delectible smokey spice that screams for a meal fresh off the grill with baskets of ripe dark fruit on the midpalate and a bright lengthy finish. Due to small production it is being poured in very small quantity and is available for purchase only in limited quantity.

This wine is the first of our small lot reserve series to see the inside of a tasting glass.  Future releases include 2012 barrel fermented Block 22 Syrah and 2012 Malbec.  Going forward these wines will likely be available only through the reserve level wine club (officially titled: The Silver Label Club).  So if you are seeking a chance to experience this spectacular Tempranillo we’d suggest visit the tasting room soon.

Bottles under our reserve (silver) label represent special lots from the vineyard that we believe express the huge potential of the ranch in a uniquely pleasing way.  Ancestor will remain the Bordeaux focused flagship while Tempranillo, Malbec, Block 22 and potential other small lot reserves will be made in varying quantities each year based upon fruit availability.  Keep an eye here on the blog and on our website for more information on these stellar offerings and future releases.

Cheers in the mean!
