Oscar Ruiz, Cellar Master
Oscar and the Ruiz family immigrated to the US from Guatemala when Oscar was 9. They pushed northward to Atascadero after a brief period in Los Angeles. Oscar's father worked seasonally on various vineyards in Paso Robles harvesting grapes. Oscar has been with Halter Ranch for 6 years. Working first with original winemaker Steve Glossner, Oscar's touch has contributed to all but Halter's very first vintage. Initially he joined the team to help part time during the '03 harvest but quickly became integral to Halter's ongoing success. As Cellar Master Oscar seeks to continue his family ties to the wine making tradition. He lives with his wife and two sons in Paso Robles.
